- 4½ cups of warm water
- 1 teaspoon of saffron
- ¼ cup of rose water
For Frying:
- A generous amount of sunflower oil
For Garnishing:
- 2 small onions, thinly sliced and fried until crispy
Steps to Prepare Fried Fish with Browned Rice:
Preparing the Fish:
Start by washing and thoroughly cleaning the fish. Rub it with salt and flour to cleanse it completely, then leave it in a strainer until ready to use. In a small bowl, mix the saffron with the rose water and set aside.Making the Marinade:
In a large, deep bowl, combine the minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped cilantro, chopped dill, salt, black pepper, dried lemon zest, cumin, curry spices, cardamom, crushed chili flakes, and dried coriander. Stir the ingredients using a hand whisk until well combined.Marinating the Fish:
Place the cleaned fish in the marinade and coat it thoroughly, ensuring the fish absorbs all the flavors. Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes, or for the best flavor, marinate it overnight in the refrigerator.Cooking the Rice:
In a medium-sized pot, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir continuously until it caramelizes and turns golden brown. Add the warm water and rice, allowing the rice to boil until it absorbs about three-quarters of the water. Pour the saffron-rose water mixture over the rice, cover the pot, and reduce the heat to low. Let the rice cook for 20 minutes, or until fully cooked.Frying the Fish:
Heat a generous amount of sunflower oil in a wide, deep skillet over medium heat. While the oil is heating, coat the marinated fish in flour on all sides. Once the oil is hot, fry the fish, turning it to ensure it turns golden brown on all sides. Once fried, place the fish on parchment paper to drain the excess oil.Serving the Dish:
Place the cooked rice on a serving dish, then arrange the fried fish on top. Garnish with the crispy fried onion slices and serve immediately.
Your fried fish with browned rice is now ready to be enjoyed, offering a delicious and nutritious meal for the whole family. Bon appétit!
