Apple pie is one of the most beloved dessert dishes and is widely regarded as a symbol of American culture. Though popular worldwide, it holds a special place in American tradition.
This dessert is easy to prepare, rich in flavor, and packed with nutritional benefits thanks to its wholesome ingredients.
Ingredients for Apple Pie:
For the dough:

2½ cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

7 tablespoons of butter (about 1 cup), softened

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

¼ cup of sugar

Cold water as needed

1 tablespoon of vanilla powder

1 teaspoon of baking powder or active dry yeast

2 eggs

Zest of 1 lemon
For the filling:

5 apples, peeled and sliced

How to Prepare Apple Pie:

Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl or electric mixer, beat the eggs, lemon zest, sugar, and vanilla powder until combined.
Gradually add the sifted flour and softened butter. Mix well until the dough takes on a crumbly, sandy texture.
Slowly add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together and becomes cohesive.
Cover the dough and place it in the fridge to rest for 15 minutes. -
Prepare the Filling:
In a pan over low heat, place the peeled, sliced apples. Add sugar and a bit of butter.
Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the apples soften slightly, resembling a jam-like texture.
Add cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg, stir well, and set the filling aside to cool. -
Assemble the Pie:
Remove the dough from the fridge and knead it lightly.
Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll them out using a rolling pin.
Grease a baking dish with a bit of butter and place one rolled dough sheet on the bottom.
Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.
Cover with the second rolled-out dough sheet and seal the edges firmly.
