1 kg (about 2.2 lbs) of fresh pitted dates
-
2 cups of milk
-
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
-
2 bananas, thinly sliced
-
2 cups of chopped walnuts
-
½ cup of chopped almonds
-
2 cups of chocolate (melted or in small chunks)
-
1 stick (or block) of soft vegetable butter
-
1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
-
1 cup of shredded coconut
-
¼ cup of crushed pistachios
How to Prepare Date Balls with Coconut and Cinnamon:
-
Prepare the Nut & Chocolate Mix:
In a food processor or blender, combine the chocolate, chopped walnuts, almonds, and pistachios. Blend until the mixture is coarse and well mixed. -
Prepare the Date Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, place the pitted dates and soft butter. Knead the mixture well by hand or with a spoon until it forms a paste-like dough.
Gradually pour in the milk while mixing continuously until the dough becomes soft and well blended. -
Add Fruit and Flavor:
Add the banana slices to the dough and knead again.
Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the mixture and stir until it’s evenly distributed. -
Combine with Chocolate & Nuts:
Pour the blended chocolate and nut mixture into the date dough.
Mix and knead everything thoroughly until well incorporated. -
Rest the Dough:
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes. -
Shape the Balls:
After resting, knead the mixture again briefly.
Divide the dough into medium-sized portions and roll each portion into a ball. -
Coat with Coconut:
Spread the shredded coconut in a shallow plate.
Roll each date ball in the coconut multiple times until fully coated.
Repeat until all the dough has been used. -
Bake the Balls:
Carefully arrange the coated balls in a baking tray and cover them with plastic wrap.
Bake in a preheated oven at medium heat (around 180°C / 350°F) for about 15 minutes, or until the balls start to turn slightly golden brown. -
Cool and Serve:
Remove the tray from the oven and let the balls cool slightly.
Arrange them on a serving platter with care.
Serve the date balls with a warm cup of coffee for a perfect pairing.
