Coconut Macaroons – Recipe and Preparation Methods

Coconut macaroons are one of many delicious desserts made with coconut, a key ingredient valued for its rich flavor and great health benefits. Some sweets rely heavily on coconut, as in today's recipe, while others use it mainly for flavoring or decoration.

Today, we’ll present two methods for making coconut-based treats: traditional Coconut Macaroons and Coconut Macaroons with Flour.

Ingredients for Coconut Macaroons:

Coconut Macaroons

  • 2 cups of shredded coconut

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 4 egg whites

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

How to Prepare Coconut Macaroons:

Place the egg whites into a large mixing bowl, add the salt, and beat with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes until fluffy.

Add the sugar and vanilla to the whipped egg whites, continuing to beat until the mixture becomes thick and glossy.

Fold in the shredded coconut and continue mixing until the batter becomes cohesive and easy to shape.

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Shape the batter into small balls about the size of a nutmeg, and arrange them on the parchment paper to prevent burning.

Bake for about 20 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid over-baking.

Remove the macaroons from the oven and allow them to cool completely before serving.

Serve these delightful treats to family or guests and enjoy them cold with good health and happiness.

  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups of finely shredded coconut

  • 5 egg whites

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

How to Prepare Coconut Macaroons with Flour:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, coconut, powdered sugar, and salt. Mix well using an electric mixer until fully blended.

In another deep bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until they become thick and frothy.

Gradually add the dry mixture to the whipped egg whites while gently folding by hand until the batter holds together.

Shape the mixture into small coconut balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper lightly greased with some butter or ghee.

Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F), and bake the macaroons for about 20 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
