Baked Apples – Recipe and Preparation Method

Baked apples are a delightful dessert that stands out from routine sweets. Known for their delicious taste and numerous health benefits, baked apples are perfect for family gatherings, friend meet-ups, and special occasions. This dish is easy to prepare, requiring just 45 minutes to cook.

Main Ingredients for Baked Apples:

Baked Apples

  • 6 large apples (green, yellow, or red)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 170 grams finely grated chocolate
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup finely chopped and toasted walnuts

Preparation Method for Baked Apples:

  1. Prepare the Apples:

    • Wash the apples thoroughly. Core each apple using a small spoon, removing the seeds but keeping the apple intact.
    • Place the apples in a baking dish. Pour ½ teaspoon of melted butter, ½ teaspoon of brown sugar, and insert one cinnamon stick into each apple.
  2. Bake the Apples:

    • Pour ½ cup of hot water into the baking dish. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
    • Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Place the dish on the middle rack and bake for 35 minutes until the apples are tender and start releasing their juices.
    • Remove the foil and return the dish to the oven for an additional 10 minutes to allow the apples to turn light golden.
  3. Prepare the Apple Syrup:

    • Once the apples are done, carefully pour the juice from the baking dish into a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the juice slightly thickens.
  4. Make the Chocolate Sauce:

    • Place a medium-sized bowl over a pot of boiling water (double boiler method). Add the chocolate and cream to the bowl, stirring until the chocolate completely melts and combines with the cream into a smooth sauce.
    • Stir in the salt, mix for another 60 seconds, then remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Serve the Apples:

    • Arrange the baked apples on a serving plate. Drizzle each apple with the thickened apple syrup.
    • Spoon a generous amount of chocolate sauce into each apple, sprinkle with toasted walnuts, and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Enjoy this delicious and simple dessert, hoping it brings joy to your gatherings!
