For the Dough:
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups warm water
  • ½ cup sunflower oil
For the Filling:
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ medium red bell pepper, sliced thin
  • ½ medium green bell pepper, sliced thin
  • ½ cup black olives, sliced thin
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced thin
  • 1 cup pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and oil.
    • Gradually add warm water while mixing until you have a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a medium pot, combine pizza sauce, red and green bell pepper slices, and mushrooms.
    • Cook over low heat for a few minutes until thickened, then add olives and pepperoni, stirring for two more minutes.
  3. Assemble the Pastry:

    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangular shape.
    • Cut the sides lengthwise to create strips, leaving a space in the middle for the filling.
    • Place the filling in the center, then sprinkle the cheeses over the filling.
    • Fold the strips over the filling to create a braided effect.
  4. Bake:

    • Brush the top of the pastry with egg wash using a brush.
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and place the pastry in the middle rack.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serving:

    • Remove the pastry from the oven and serve hot.
