Brownies are a popular dessert in America, often served at birthdays and special occasions. This treat is loved by both adults and children, and it’s easy to prepare.
In this article from Arabicook.com, we will present the ingredients and preparation method for brownies.
Ingredients for Brownies:
For the brownie layer:
- 100 grams of butter.
- 1½ cups of sugar.
- 2 eggs.
- ½ cup of melted chocolate.
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
- ¼ cup of cocoa powder.
- Ground almonds (optional, to taste).
- 1 teaspoon of liquid vanilla.
For the cheese layer:
- ¼ cup of flour.
- 2 eggs.
- ¾ cup of cream cheese.
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Zest of 1 lemon.
For the caramel sauce (can be used instead of the cheese layer):
- 1 cup of sugar.
- ½ cup of water.
- ¼ cup of cream.
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Preparation Method for Brownies:
Prepare the brownie layer:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease the cake pan with butter and dust with flour, removing any excess.
- In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter using an electric or manual whisk.
- Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the melted chocolate, and continue to mix until well combined.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, vanilla, and cocoa powder, then gradually add them to the mixture, stirring continuously.
- Add the ground almonds (if using) and mix well.
- Pour the brownie mixture into the prepared cake pan.
Prepare the cheese layer:
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese using an electric whisk until smooth and free of lumps.
- Gradually add the eggs while whisking.
- Add the flour, vanilla, and lemon zest, mixing until fully combined.
- Pour the cheese mixture over the brownie mixture in the pan.
Bake:
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let the brownies cool before cutting into squares.
Alternative caramel sauce:
- If you prefer caramel instead of the cheese layer, prepare the caramel sauce by boiling the sugar and water until the sugar turns a golden brown color (be careful not to burn the sugar).
- Once the sugar reaches the desired color, remove from heat and add the cream and vanilla, stirring continuously.
- Return the mixture to the heat for about a minute, then pour the caramel into a heat-resistant bowl to cool.
Enjoy your brownies with either the cheese layer or the caramel sauce!
