It’s best consumed in the morning as it provides high energy due to its rich calorie content, making it perfect for starting your day. However, if eaten late at night, it can contribute to weight gain. These pastries are easy to prepare and take only 20 minutes, serving up to seven people.
Main Ingredients for Preparing Cinnamon Cheese Pastries:
For the Dough:
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of instant yeast
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ¾ cup of milk
- 6 tablespoons of melted butter
For the Cheese Filling:
- 200 grams of cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon of flour
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 small egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2½ tablespoons of ground cinnamon
For the Sugar Glaze:
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 5 teaspoons of milk
For Serving:
- A little melted butter
- 20 whole walnuts
- A moderate amount of sugar
How to Prepare Cinnamon Cheese Pastries:
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a stand mixer, place 2½ cups of flour, yeast, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix on medium speed for a few seconds to combine.
- Add the egg, vanilla, and milk, and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes until a somewhat cohesive dough forms.
- Gradually add the melted butter in stages. Add a small amount of butter, mix well, and then add more, continuing to run the mixer until all butter is incorporated. Continue mixing until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too soft, add the remaining flour gradually.
- Remove the dough from the mixer and shape it into 20 small balls. Place them on an oiled baking tray, cover with plastic wrap, and let them rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Press down gently to release the air and cover them again for an additional 10 minutes to allow for further rising.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Filling
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix the cream cheese, flour, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract with a fork until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Pastries
- Take one dough ball and press it down with your fingers to form a square.

Step 5: Bake and Serve
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the pastries for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Once baked, let them cool slightly, then drizzle the sugar glaze over the pastries in a beautiful and consistent pattern.
