Ingredients for Thyme Croissant:

For the Dough:

Croissant with Thyme

  • 3 cups of flour
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • ½ cup of liquid milk
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon of regular sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup of water
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt

For the Filling:

  • 3 tablespoons of oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 3 tablespoons of ground thyme

For the Glaze:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid milk
  • A pinch of vanilla powder

How to Make Thyme Croissant:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large, deep bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, yeast, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
    • In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: egg, milk, water, oil, and vanilla. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ones and knead well until a soft, elastic dough forms. (If the dough is too sticky, add some flour; if it's too dry, add a bit of water.)
    • Cover the dough and let it rest for about an hour.
  2. Shaping the Croissant:

    • After the dough has risen, roll it out on a flat surface using a rolling pin to form a thin, circular shape. Cut the dough into triangle slices, like pizza.
    • Brush the cut triangles with the oil for the filling and sprinkle the thyme on top. Roll each triangle from the wide end to the tip, forming a beautiful spiral croissant shape.
  3. Baking:

    • Place the croissants on a non-stick baking tray or a greased tray.
    • For the glaze, mix the egg, vanilla, and milk in a small bowl and brush the tops of the croissants.
    • Allow the croissants to rest for another 30 minutes.
  4. Cook:

    • Preheat the oven, then bake the croissants until they are golden and fully cooked. Once done, remove them from the oven and cover with a clean cloth to keep them soft.

Your thyme croissants are now ready to serve! They are perfect for breakfast or dinner, especially with a cup of tea or juice.
