Fattet Kofta – Recipe and Preparation Method
Fattet Kofta is a luxurious main dish often served at family gatherings or social events. It stands out for its delicious taste and high nutritional value, making it a favorite on the table. The dish is easy to prepare and can be ready in just 20 minutes, making it perfect for quick meals. This recipe serves five people.
Ingredients for Fattet Kofta:
For the Fried Bread:
- 2 loaves of bread, cut into medium-sized squares and fried
For the Tomato Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely minced
- 4 tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed spices
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
For the Kofta:
- 700 grams minced meat
- 1 large onion
- 1/2 bunch of parsley
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon mixed spices
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
For the Yogurt Mixture:
- 6 cups yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- A pinch of white pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
For Garnishing:
- Fried pine nuts
- Finely chopped parsley
Preparation Method:
Prepare the Tomato Sauce:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, stirring until the onion turns golden and the garlic aroma fills the kitchen. Add the chopped tomatoes, green pepper, salt, black pepper, mixed spices, and tomato paste. Stir well and let the sauce simmer on medium heat until it thickens. Once ready, set it aside and keep it warm.
Prepare the Kofta:
- In a large bowl, combine the minced meat, chopped onion, parsley, cinnamon, mixed spices, ground cardamom, salt, and black pepper. Mix well using your hands until all ingredients are well combined. Shape the mixture into medium-sized kofta fingers. Heat oil in a wide skillet over medium heat, then fry the kofta until they turn golden brown on all sides.
Prepare the Yogurt Mixture:
- In a large bowl, whisk the yogurt, garlic, green chili, salt, white pepper, and dried mint until smooth.
Assemble the Fattet Kofta:
- In a wide serving dish, place the fried bread squares at the bottom. Pour the tomato sauce evenly over the bread, followed by the yogurt mixture. Arrange the kofta fingers on top.
Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with fried pine nuts and chopped parsley, then serve immediately while hot.
