  • 500g of green beans (also known as runner beans).
  • 4 grated tomatoes.
  • 1 grated green bell pepper.
  • 2 finely chopped onions.
  • 3 minced garlic cloves.
  • 1 tablespoon of salt (or to taste).
  • ¼ tablespoon of ground black pepper.
  • 1 cup of olive oil.
  • 1 cup of water.

Instructions:

  1. Preparing the beans:
    Trim the ends of the green beans and cut them into small, bite-sized pieces. Wash them thoroughly and drain.

  2. Sautéing the onions:
    In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent.

  3. Adding the beans:
    Add the green beans to the onions and stir to coat them in the oil. Let them cook until they start to soften.

  4. Adding the peppers and tomatoes:
    Stir in the grated green pepper, followed by the grated tomatoes. Mix everything well.

  5. Seasoning:
    Add the salt, black pepper, and minced garlic. Stir everything to combine.

  6. Cooking:
    Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes until the beans are tender.

  7. Serving:
    Serve the cooked green beans hot, accompanied by fluffy white rice for a hearty, nutritious meal.
