  • 1 medium-sized egg
  • 1 egg white (reserve the yolk for brushing)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (at room temperature)
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla + 1 additional teaspoon
  • ½ cup of powdered sugar
  • ½ cup of semolina
  • 2¼ cups of white flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 2 cups of cold prepared syrup (sugar syrup)

How to Prepare Lady Fingers:

  1. In a suitable bowl, mix the egg, egg white, oil, and butter together. Blend all the ingredients well until fully combined.

  2. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla to the mixture and stir again until the vanilla dissolves and the mixture is smooth.

  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue mixing until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  4. Add the semolina and mix all the ingredients well until fully incorporated.

  5. Add the baking powder along with 1½ cups of white flour. Using your hands, knead the mixture until everything is well blended.

  6. Gradually add the remaining flour and continue kneading until you have a firm and cohesive dough.

  7. Take a small piece of the dough and shape it into a finger-like form, then press down gently in the middle with your finger.

  8. Using a sharp kitchen knife, make three lengthwise lines on each piece of dough.

  9. Repeat the process with the remaining dough until all of it is used.

  10. In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk with 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and use this mixture to brush the tops of the dough pieces.

  11. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Once it reaches the desired temperature, place the baking tray in the oven and bake the dough until it is fully cooked and turns a golden-red color.

  12. Remove the tray from the oven and immediately pour the cold syrup over the hot dough pieces.
