Meat Mixture:

  • 500 grams of finely ground meat
  • 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of meat spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Filling:

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup of roasted chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 stalk of celery, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Tomato Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 large tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Preparation Method:

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:

    • In a large, deep bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, meat spices, and ground cinnamon. Mix well using your fingers until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté, stirring with a wooden spoon, until golden. Add the mushrooms, chestnuts, celery, salt, and pepper, and cook for a few more minutes until well combined. Remove from heat, transfer the filling to a side dish, and let it cool.
  3. Prepare the Tomato Sauce:

    • In the same pot used for the filling, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until the garlic's aroma fills the kitchen. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 7 minutes until it thickens and becomes smooth.
  4. Shape the Meat Patties:

    • Take a small portion of the meat mixture and shape it into a ball. Create a small indentation in the center and fill it with a tablespoon of the prepared filling. Seal the patty, shaping it into an oval. Repeat this process until all the meat mixture and filling are used. Arrange the patties on a baking tray.
  5. Bake the Patties:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Place the baking tray on the middle rack and bake for 15 minutes until the patties are cooked through. Remove from the oven, pour the tomato sauce over the patties, and return the tray to the oven for an additional 15 minutes to allow the sauce to blend with the patties.
  6. Serve:

    • Remove the tray from the oven and serve the meat patties with chestnuts hot.
