Philadelphia Sandwich is a type of fast food that can be served as a main lunch meal. It is known for its delicious taste and nutritional benefits, thanks to its protein-rich meat and vitamin-packed vegetables. It is a favorite among both adults and children, easy to prepare, and doesn’t require much time or effort.

  • 500 grams of steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
  • 200 grams of mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 sandwich rolls (French bread or sub rolls)

Preparation Method:

  1. Marinate the Steak: In a large, deep bowl, combine 1½ tablespoons of olive oil, vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir with a wide plastic spoon until the ingredients are well mixed. Add the steak slices, salt, and black pepper, and mix everything well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

  2. Roast the Peppers: Meanwhile, line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the sliced red and green peppers on it. Optionally, add a small sprinkle of salt and pepper. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and place the tray on the middle rack. Roast the peppers for 10 minutes or until tender.

  3. Sauté the Onions: In a medium-sized pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 3 minutes until they become fragrant and turn light golden.

  4. Cook the Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the pot with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir well until everything is well combined. Transfer the mushroom mixture to a side dish and set it aside.

  5. Cook the Steak: In the same pot, add the remaining olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the marinated steak slices and cook, stirring constantly, until the meat starts to cook through. Then add the roasted bell peppers and the cooked mushroom mixture. Stir everything well with a wooden spoon and let it simmer on low heat for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.

  6. Assemble the Sandwiches: Slice each sandwich roll in half. Fill each sandwich with a portion of the steak mixture and top with a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat with the remaining rolls.

  7. Melt the Cheese: Arrange the sandwiches on a baking tray, preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F), and place the tray on the middle rack. Bake for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Remove from the oven, place the sandwiches on a serving plate, and serve immediately.
