- ½ tsp seven spices (mixed spices)
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- ¼ tbsp garlic powder
- ½ tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp salt (or to taste)
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp butter
- Vegetable oil as needed
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp butter
For the Outer Coating:
- 2 beaten eggs
- Another ½ cup breadcrumbs
How to Prepare Potato Fingers with Minced Meat:
Prepare the Filling: Begin by heating some vegetable oil in a pot. Once hot, add the chopped onions and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the minced meat, seven spices, ½ tbsp black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir until the meat changes color and cooks well with the onions. Once done, turn off the heat and set aside.
Make the Potato Dough: In a large bowl, mash the pre-boiled and peeled potatoes. Add 1 egg, 2 tbsp butter, paprika, salt, ½ tbsp black pepper, garlic powder, and the breadcrumbs. Knead all ingredients together until you have a cohesive dough.
Assemble the Potato Fingers: Take a portion of the potato dough and flatten it on a smooth surface. Place a portion of the minced meat filling with some mozzarella cheese on top. Roll the potato dough around the filling and seal the edges tightly. Once shaped, dip the potato fingers into the beaten eggs, followed by a coating of breadcrumbs.
Chill the Fingers: Place the coated potato fingers in the fridge for a little while to firm up.
Fry the Potato Fingers: Heat a generous amount of oil in a deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot, fry the potato fingers until golden brown. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Serve: Now your Potato Fingers with Minced Meat are ready to serve. Arrange them neatly on a platter and enjoy with some ketchup on the side.
