Main Ingredients for Preparing Shrimp Salad:

For Cooking the Shrimp:

  • 1 large onion, sliced thinly
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 10 whole cardamom pods
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 kg of large shrimp

For the Shrimp Salad:

  • ½ cup of mayonnaise
  • ½ cup of sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped pickled cucumbers
  • 2 finely chopped pickled hot peppers
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • ¼ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of vinegar

For the Vegetable Mix:

  • 1 cup of chopped green beans
  • 1 cup of carrots, cut into thin sticks
  • 1 large cucumber, cut into thin sticks
  • 4 boiled eggs
  • 1 large head of lettuce
  • ½ cup of sliced olives

How to Prepare Shrimp Salad:

  1. Cook the Shrimp:

    • In a medium-sized pot, fill one-third with water and add the onion, salt, cardamom pods, and bay leaves. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat, then add the shrimp. Let it boil for about 4 minutes until the shrimp turns light pink.
    • Prepare a large bowl filled with ice cubes and a small amount of water. Using tongs, transfer the shrimp from the pot to the ice bath and let them cool completely.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp Salad:

    • In a large bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, chopped pickles, hot pickled peppers, ground black pepper, chopped green onion, salt, mustard, hot sauce, lemon juice, and vinegar. Stir with a wide plastic spoon until the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Prepare the Serving Dish:

    • In a large serving dish, place a generous amount of ice cubes underneath to help keep the shrimp, boiled eggs, and vegetables fresh and crisp.
  4. Assemble the Salad:

    • Arrange the vegetable mix in the serving dish and top it with the cooked shrimp and boiled eggs.
    • Drizzle the prepared sauce over the salad so that all the ingredients absorb the flavors, or serve the sauce in a side dish so everyone can take their desired amount.
