The spicy chicken sandwich is one of the popular fast food items served in restaurants, loved by many, including children. Chicken sandwiches come in many varieties, with different fillings and sauces, such as shawarma, Mexican, fajita, and spicy chicken sandwiches, among others. Today, we present a detailed recipe for making a delicious and spicy chicken sandwich at home without having to visit a restaurant. Follow along with us!

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of chicken breast
  • 12 bread rolls
  • Cheddar cheese slices
  • 200 grams of mayonnaise
  • 100 grams of ketchup
  • 1½ cups of yogurt
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Serves: 6 People

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    Clean the chicken breasts and cut them into thin, even slices for even cooking.

  2. Set Up Breading Stations:
    Prepare four plates for the breading process:

    • Plate 1: Mix the chicken slices with 1½ cups of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of salt. Cover the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about two hours to allow the chicken to absorb the flavors.
    • Plate 2: Combine 2 cups of sifted flour with 1 teaspoon of hot pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to mix.
    • Plate 3: Beat the 3 eggs with 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
    • Plate 4: Add the breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry the Chicken:
    Heat oil in a frying pan until hot. Take the marinated chicken from the fridge, dip each slice into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.

  4. Cook the Chicken:
    Repeat the breading process for all chicken slices. Fry the coated chicken in hot oil over medium heat until fully cooked and golden brown, then remove from the oil.

  5. Prepare the Spicy Sauce:
    In a small pot, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, add 1 cup of ketchup, and 1 teaspoon of hot pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are fully combined. Pour this spicy sauce over the fried chicken slices and set aside.

  6. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    Spread a little mayonnaise on each bread roll, add the spicy chicken slices, and top with cheddar cheese slices. Brush the sandwiches with a bit of butter.

  7. Toast in the Oven:
    Place the sandwiches in a preheated oven at 180°C until they are toasted and golden brown. Once done, remove them from the oven and arrange them on a serving plate.
