Spiral kofta pie is a type of gourmet pastry that can be served at gatherings with friends or family. It is characterized by its delicious taste and multiple health benefits, as it contains kofta rich in protein, making it a great source of energy.
Main Ingredients for Spiral Kofta Pie:
- 3¼ cups of all-purpose flour
- ½ cup of fine semolina
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1¼ cups of lukewarm water
Filling Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 500 grams of minced meat
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon of ginger powder
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of mixed spices
- 1 teaspoon of crushed chili
- ¼ cup of finely chopped parsley
- 1 cup of finely shredded mozzarella cheese
For Assembly:
- ¼ cup of melted butter
- ½ cup of sunflower oil
How to Prepare Spiral Kofta Pie:
Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, semolina, salt, and lukewarm water. Use a mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes until you get a smooth, cohesive dough.
- Remove the dough from the bowl and place it in an oiled dish. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for 30 minutes until it doubles in size.
Prepare the Filling:
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the minced meat, salt, black pepper, ginger powder, turmeric, mixed spices, and crushed chili. Stir well and cook for a few minutes until the meat is fully cooked and any liquid has evaporated. Set aside to cool.
Assemble the Pie:
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and sunflower oil. Divide the dough into four equal balls.
- Roll out the first ball on a floured surface, brushing it with the butter-oil mixture as you roll it into a circular shape.
- Place a quarter of the filling in a rectangular shape in the center of the dough. Sprinkle some parsley and mozzarella cheese on top, then roll the dough into a tube shape. Coil it in a spiral in a baking dish. Repeat this process for the remaining dough and filling.
Bake the Pie:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the baking dish in the center of the oven and bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot.
