Sriracha Chicken is an Asian dish that combines the perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors in every bite, without needing to dip it in a side sauce. This dish is known for its crispy exterior, adding an extra touch of appeal. Below, we provide the ingredients and steps needed to prepare this distinctive dish, hoping it meets your taste and expectations.
Ingredients for Sriracha Chicken:
- 6 boneless chicken breasts
- ½ cup onion juice
- 2 cups cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
For Garnishing:
- White sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
- Sriracha sauce
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
- 4 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 6 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
How to Prepare Sriracha Chicken:
Prepare the Chicken: Start by cutting the chicken breasts into slices, but not all the way through, keeping the pieces intact.
Season the Chicken: Season the chicken with salt and black pepper. Add dried thyme and onion juice, mixing well to ensure the marinade is absorbed into the cuts of the chicken. Let the chicken marinate for about two hours to absorb the flavors.
Coat the Chicken: Place the cornstarch in a plastic bag, add the marinated chicken pieces, and shake the bag until the chicken is well coated. This will help achieve a crispy texture and a beautiful golden color.
Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the chicken pieces until golden and crispy. Set the chicken aside.
Prepare the Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, pour half of the water, then add the soy sauce, minced garlic, honey, and Sriracha sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Thicken the Sauce: Dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining water and add it to the boiling sauce. Stir continuously to avoid any lumps, ensuring the sauce thickens to the correct consistency.
Coat the Chicken: Place the fried chicken pieces in a medium-depth serving dish. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, allowing it to absorb the flavors and take on the color of the sauce.
Serve: Pour any remaining sauce into a small bowl to be served on the side, if desired. Garnish the chicken with white sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve on a suitable dish. Enjoy your delicious Sriracha Chicken!
