Steak with Mushroom Sauce – A Delicious Lunch Recipe
This steak with mushroom sauce recipe is a classic, delicious dish often enjoyed in restaurants, but it's quite simple to make at home. Here's a step-by-step guide to prepare this amazing meal, courtesy of Arabicook.
Ingredients for Steak with Mushroom Sauce:
- 500g thick-cut beef steak
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup beef broth (or 1 beef bouillon cube dissolved in 1 cup of water)
- 2¼ cups heavy cream (cooking cream)
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
How to Prepare Steak with Mushroom Sauce:
Season the Steak:
Start by seasoning the steak slices with ½ tablespoon of salt and ½ tablespoon of ground black pepper. Rub the seasoning onto both sides of the steak, then let it rest for at least 1 hour.Prepare the Mushroom Sauce:
In a separate pot, melt the butter over low heat to prevent burning. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they start to soften. Add the minced garlic and cook for a few more minutes until fragrant.Add the Mushrooms and Broth:
Add the sliced mushrooms to the pot and sauté for a few minutes until they start to brown. Pour in the beef broth (or the bouillon cube dissolved in water). Let the mixture simmer until the broth begins to boil.Add the Cream:
Once the broth is boiling, add the heavy cream. Stir everything together and allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce thickens.Season the Sauce:
Add 1 tablespoon of dried thyme, ½ tablespoon of salt, and ½ tablespoon of black pepper. Stir the sauce and let it continue to simmer for a few more minutes, then remove from the heat and set it aside.Cook the Steak:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a new pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the seasoned steak slices. Cook each side of the steak for a few minutes until it reaches your desired level of doneness (rare, medium, or well-done). Once cooked, remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes.Serve:
On a serving plate, place a slice of steak and pour a generous amount of the creamy mushroom sauce over the top. Serve hot.
This steak with mushroom sauce is perfect for a special dinner and pairs beautifully with a side of mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables. Enjoy your meal!
Bon appétit!
