Toast Colors is a meal loved by children, with its attractive appearance and delicious taste. It can be served for breakfast during family gatherings or packed for children to take to school. It’s easy to prepare, taking only 40 minutes, and this recipe serves six people.
Main Ingredients for Preparing Toast Colors:
For the Dough:
- 2½ cups of all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons of powdered milk
- 1 tablespoon of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ¼ cup of sunflower oil
- ½ cup of warm milk
- ½ cup of warm water
For the Coloring:
- 3 drops of green food coloring
- 3 drops of red food coloring
How to Prepare Toast Colors:
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, place the flour, sugar, powdered milk, yeast, baking powder, and salt. Attach the dough hook and mix on medium speed for 1 minute to combine all the ingredients.
- Gradually add the oil, milk, and water while continuing to mix until a somewhat cohesive dough forms. If the dough is too soft, add an additional ¼ cup of flour gradually while mixing until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
- Lower the mixer speed and knead for 4 minutes until the dough separates from the sides of the bowl.
Step 2: Add the Colors
- Divide the dough into three equal balls. Take the first ball and add 3 drops of green food coloring. Knead the dough with your fingers until you get a green dough. Repeat the process with the second ball, using red food coloring to make pink dough. Leave the third ball plain with no color.
- Place the pink dough in an oiled bowl, cover it tightly with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 30–40 minutes until it doubles in size. Do the same for the green and plain dough.
Step 3: Assemble the Toast
- Once the dough has risen, roll out the plain dough on a floured surface using a rolling pin into a rectangle. Repeat this process for the pink and green doughs.
- Stack the rolled doughs on top of each other and roll them up into a log shape.
- Place the log in a loaf pan and let it rise again in a warm place until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the loaf pan on the middle rack and bake for 40–50 minutes until the bread turns golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly before turning it out onto a cutting board. Slice it with a sharp knife.
Step 4: Serve Serve the colorful toast warm with olives, labneh, cheese, and other breakfast accompaniments.
Enjoy your delicious and colorful toast, perfect for a fun and delightful meal!
