Dough Ingredients:

  • 3½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of fine granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of instant yeast
  • 1 cup of lukewarm water

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of peeled and finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2½ tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of tomato paste
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely minced
  • 6 fresh basil leaves (or 1 teaspoon of dried basil if unavailable)
  • ½ teaspoon of oregano
  • ½ teaspoon of white pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of salt

Topping Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of finely grated mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 2 red chili peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano

Preparation Method:

  1. Preparing the Dough: In a large bowl, sift the flour and salt, then mix well. Make a well in the center and set aside. In a mixer bowl, add the water, instant yeast, sugar, and olive oil, blending on medium speed for 2 minutes until all ingredients are combined. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes until foam appears on the surface, then pour it into the center of the flour.

  2. Knead the mixture with a hand whisk for a few minutes until a smooth dough forms. Knead the dough with your fingertips for 2 minutes, shape it into a ball, coat with a bit of olive oil, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and let it rest in a warm place for 60 minutes until it doubles in size.

  3. Preparing the Sauce: In a medium pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté with a wooden spoon until fragrant. Add the tomato paste, oregano, white pepper, chopped tomatoes, and salt, stirring for 1 minute. Add the basil leaves, reduce the heat, and let simmer on low heat for about 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the basil leaves and blend the sauce until smooth.

  4. Assembling the Pizza: Brush a pizza baking tray with olive oil using a wide brush and set it aside. Divide the dough into four balls. Roll out the first ball on a floured surface into a circular shape, then transfer it to the prepared tray. Poke the dough with a thin skewer, spread 2 tablespoons of the sauce over the dough, leaving the edges uncovered.

  5. Sprinkle a quarter of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then distribute a quarter of the tuna and red pepper slices on top. Sprinkle some oregano and drizzle with ½ tablespoon of olive oil. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking. Repeat the same process with the remaining dough and sauce to make four pizzas.

  6. Baking: Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F), place the tray on the middle rack, and bake for about 12 minutes until the pizza turns light golden. Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot.

Enjoy your delicious tuna pizza, hoping it adds a delightful touch to your table!
