Tuna Samosa – Recipe and Preparation Method

Dough Ingredients:

  • 2.5 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk

Filling Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cups tuna, drained
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped

Preparation Method:

  1. Make the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix on medium speed for about 60 seconds until well combined.
    • Add olive oil, eggs, and buttermilk. Mix on low speed for about 3 minutes until you have a smooth, homogeneous dough.
    • Remove the dough from the bowl, place it in a greased dish, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest in a warm place for 15 minutes to rise.
  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a large bowl, combine olive oil, chopped green onions, tuna, salt, black pepper, and green chili. Mix well using a large spoon until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Shape the Samosas:

    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface using a rolling pin. Cut out circles using a round cookie cutter.
    • Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle, fold it over to form a half-moon shape, and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  4. Fry the Samosas:

    • In a deep, wide pan, heat a generous amount of sunflower oil over medium heat until hot.
    • Carefully add the samosas to the oil, frying them until they are golden brown on both sides.
  5. Drain and Serve:

    • Remove the tuna samosas from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
    • Arrange them on a serving plate and serve hot.
