Vegetable Tart – Recipe and Preparation Method
Vegetable Tart is a type of appetizer that can be served alongside main dishes or as a main course for dinner or suhoor during Ramadan. It is distinguished by its unique taste and nutritional benefits, containing a high percentage of nutrients that benefit the body and provide lasting energy.
This dish is easy to prepare, requires little time and effort, and serves four people. The preparation time for this recipe is 35 minutes.
Main Ingredients for Vegetable Tart:
- 250 g puff pastry dough (ready-to-use, round shape)
- 6 tablespoons Gruyère cheese, finely grated
- 1 small leek, sliced thinly
- 2 large carrots, finely grated
- ½ large red bell pepper, diced small
- 1 medium zucchini, finely grated
- 100 g white mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
Tart Topping Sauce Ingredients:
- ¾ cup cooking cream
- ½ cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- A pinch of ground nutmeg
Preparation Method for Vegetable Tart:
Prepare the Tart Base:
- Preheat your tart pan and place the puff pastry dough inside, ensuring it covers the entire bottom and sides. Prick the dough with a toothpick to make small holes and sprinkle half of the Gruyère cheese evenly across the dough.
Prepare the Vegetable Mixture:
- In a large, thick-bottomed skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the grated carrots, grated zucchini, red bell pepper, sliced mushrooms, and leeks. Stir the mixture for about 5 minutes using a wooden spoon, then add the salt and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender. Set the mixture aside to cool slightly.
Prepare the Tart Topping Sauce:
- In a medium bowl, combine the cooking cream, milk, eggs, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Whisk them together using a hand whisk until you get a smooth mixture.
Assemble and Bake:
- Spread the cooled vegetable mixture evenly over the puff pastry using a plastic spatula. Pour the tart topping sauce over the vegetables, then sprinkle the parsley and the remaining Gruyère cheese on top.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F), place the tart pan on the middle rack, and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the tart turns light golden.
