For the dough:

  • 2/3 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 egg

For the topping:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the filling:

  • 1 kilogram of apples, peeled and washed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 packets of vanilla

How to Prepare Apple Pie:

Preparing the dough:

  1. In a food processor, combine the butter, flour, baking powder, egg, and white sugar. Blend until the mixture is fully combined.

  2. Lightly flour a clean surface, place the dough on it, and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth.

  3. Place the dough in a plastic bag, seal it, and refrigerate for about 2 hours.

Preparing the filling:

  1. Cut the peeled apples into small cubes.

  2. In a pot over medium heat, combine the butter, sugar, apple cubes, and vanilla.

  3. Add a little water and stir the mixture occasionally until it comes to a boil. Lower the heat, cover the pot, and allow the apples to soften. Once done, remove the pot from the heat.

Assembling the pie:

  1. Roll out the dough and press it into the bottom and sides of a tart pan (reserve a small amount of dough to grate on top).

  2. Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough in the pan.

  3. Grate the remaining dough over the apple filling.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and vanilla, and brush the mixture over the top of the pie.

  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Once the oven is hot, place the tart pan inside and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top turns golden.

  6. Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool slightly.
