Chicken Masala is a popular Indian dish, known for its rich use of various spices. It is a unique and flavorful dish, often served at grand occasions. Despite its exotic taste, it’s easy to prepare and incredibly delicious.

Main Ingredients for Chicken Masala:

  • 500 grams of chicken fillet
  • ¼ cup of sunflower oil
  • 1 tablespoon of finely minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon of cumin
  • ½ teaspoon of fresh coriander
  • ½ teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 large tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of dried coriander
  • 1 teaspoon of crushed chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon of masala spice mix
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¼ cup of warm water
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup of yogurt
  • ¼ cup of liquid cream
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped parsley (or cilantro if parsley is unavailable)

Preparation Method for Chicken Masala:

  1. Preparing the Chicken:
Cut the chicken into small, equal-sized pieces, about 3 cm each.

  2. Frying the Chicken:
Heat a small amount of sunflower oil in a frying pan. Once hot, add the garlic and ginger, stirring them until they turn golden. Add the chicken pieces and stir-fry them for several minutes until they become golden. Remove the chicken and set aside.

  3. Cooking the Spices:
In the same pan, add the remaining sunflower oil and add cumin, coriander, and mustard seeds. Stir until they turn a light golden color.
Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes golden as well. Then, add the chopped tomatoes and stir with the onion over low heat for about 7 minutes.

  4. Adding the Spices and Seasoning:
Once the tomatoes begin to soften, add salt, black pepper, turmeric, paprika, dried coriander, crushed chili flakes, and masala spice mix. Stir well, allowing the spices to mix with the tomatoes, releasing a fragrant aroma.

  5. Simmering the Mixture:
Add the lemon juice and warm water, cover the pan, and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until the flavors blend and the mixture thickens.

  6. Finishing the Dish:
Return the chicken to the pan, stirring it with the tomato mixture for a few minutes until it is well-coated and browned. Cover the pan and cook on medium heat until the chicken is fully cooked.
Once the chicken is cooked, add the chopped green chilies, cream, and yogurt. Simmer on low heat for another 5 minutes, allowing all the ingredients to blend and thicken.

Your Chicken Masala is now ready to be served! Enjoy this flavorful dish with family or guests. Bon appétit!
