Chicken shawarma sandwiches are known for their delicious taste and high nutritional value. They are easy to prepare, requiring no more than 15 minutes of preparation and an additional 25 minutes for cooking. In this article, we will provide the ingredients for four people along with the preparation method, hoping you enjoy this unique sandwich from Iraqi cuisine.
Ingredients for Chicken Shawarma:
- 500 grams of chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
- 1 tablespoon of shawarma spices
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ¼ cup of white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of crushed garlic
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 4 Arabic bread loaves
- Pickled cucumbers, sliced (to taste)
- Ready-made mayonnaise (to taste)
How to Prepare Chicken Shawarma:
In a deep bowl, combine the chicken breast strips with shawarma spices, black pepper, salt, white vinegar, crushed garlic, yogurt, and vegetable oil. Mix all the ingredients well until fully combined.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, for the best flavor.
Place the marinated chicken strips on a greased baking tray.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Once heated, bake the chicken in the oven until fully cooked.
Remove the tray from the oven once the chicken is done.
Assemble the Shawarma Sandwiches:
Spread a layer of mayonnaise onto an Arabic bread loaf using a spoon.
Place an appropriate amount of cooked chicken strips onto the bread, then add some sliced pickled cucumbers. You can also add vegetables like lettuce or tomatoes if desired.
Roll the bread into a sandwich wrap.
Repeat the process until all ingredients are used.
