- 1 kg large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 4 large onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon crushed ginger
- 4 tablespoons crushed garlic
- 1 red hot pepper, sliced
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 8 medium-sized tomatoes, deseeded and finely chopped
- 280 ml water
- 4 tablespoons dried coriander
- 2 cups cooked rice
For Garnishing:
- Chopped fresh coriander (as desired)
- Lemon slices (as desired)
How to Prepare Dry Shrimp (Nashif Rubiyan):
Marinate the Shrimp:
- In a bowl, combine the shrimp with lemon juice and black pepper. Stir well to coat the shrimp, then set aside.
Cook the Onions:
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, mustard seeds, and cumin, stirring occasionally until the onions turn golden.
Add Spices:
- Add the crushed garlic, red hot pepper, ginger, turmeric, ground coriander, garam masala, chili powder, dried coriander, and sugar. Stir the mixture until everything is well combined.
Add Tomatoes and Simmer:
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and let the mixture cook until it thickens.
- Add the water, reduce the heat, and simmer until the sauce becomes thick.
