  • ¾ cup of buttermilk
  • 1 cup of white flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

  • Sunflower oil

How to Prepare Fried Chicken Drumsticks:

Step 1:
Begin by cleaning the drumsticks. Use a sharp knife to remove the skin from around the bone, then push the meat down from the top of the drumstick so that the bone is exposed.

Step 2:
In a deep bowl, mix together the black pepper, coriander, ginger, turmeric, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, cumin, cardamom, salt, and saffron. Stir until all the spices are well combined.

Step 3:
Sift the flour into a wide, deep dish and add 1 tablespoon of the spice mixture. Add the baking powder, and stir everything well.

Step 4:
Now, add the remaining spice mixture to the buttermilk and whisk them together until smooth. Place the chicken drumsticks into this buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully coated, and refrigerate for 3 hours.

Step 5:
After marinating, take each drumstick out of the buttermilk mixture and coat it in the flour mixture, creating a thick layer of flour on each piece. Repeat the process with all the drumsticks.

Step 6:
Heat a generous amount of sunflower oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until the oil is hot.

Step 7:
While waiting for the oil to heat, dip the drumsticks back into the flour mixture once more. Immediately place them into the hot oil and fry for about 3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Flip the drumsticks to ensure even cooking. Continue frying until they are fully cooked and golden.

Step 8:
Once done, remove the drumsticks from the pan and place them on parchment paper to absorb the excess oil.

Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy fried chicken drumsticks!
