  • 350 grams of peeled and crushed hazelnuts.

Syrup Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water.
  • 2 cups of full-fat milk.
  • 1⅓ cups of white sugar.

How to Prepare Goulash Baklava:

  1. Prepare the Baking Pan:
Grease a rectangular baking pan with a small amount of melted butter.

  2. Layer the Dough:
Place two layers of dough at the bottom of the baking pan and brush the top with a little butter. Trim any excess dough from the edges. Repeat the process with two more layers of dough, brushing with butter and trimming the edges.

  3. Continue Layering:
Repeat this process until you've used half of the dough.

  4. Add the Filling:
Evenly distribute a layer of crushed hazelnuts over the dough.

  5. Layer the Remaining Dough:
Place two more layers of dough over the filling, brush with butter, and trim the excess. Continue layering two sheets at a time with butter until all the dough is used.

  6. Cut the Dough:
Cut the dough layers in the pan into squares.

  7. Bake the Baklava:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the baklava for about 25 minutes, or until the dough turns golden.

  8. Prepare the Syrup:
In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

  9. Simmer the Syrup:
Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  10. Add the Milk:
Gradually pour in the milk, stirring well to combine, then remove from the heat.

  11. Cool the Syrup:
Let the syrup cool slightly, then pour it over the cooled baklava squares.

  12. Let It Soak:
Allow the baklava to absorb the syrup for about 45 minutes.

Your Goulash Baklava is now ready to be served. Enjoy this sweet treat with family or friends, and bon appétit!
