How to Prepare Halawat Al-Chiklaytiyah:

  1. Prepare the syrup (Qatar):
    In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes until the syrup thickens.
    Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the rose water, orange blossom water, and lemon juice. Stir well until combined, then set the syrup aside to cool.

  2. Cook the flour mixture:
    In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil and ghee over medium heat until the ghee melts and the mixture is hot.
    Add the powdered milk, cornstarch, and flour, and stir constantly until all the ingredients are well combined and the mixture turns golden brown.

  3. Add the syrup:
    Gradually pour the prepared syrup over the flour mixture while stirring continuously. Keep mixing until the mixture thickens and forms a cohesive dough.

  4. Serve and garnish:
    Remove the pan from the heat and pour the Halawat Al-Chiklaytiyah mixture into serving plates. Garnish the top of each plate with almonds.
