Main Ingredients for Kofta with Cheese:

Kofta with Cheese

For the Kofta:

  • 600 grams of finely ground meat
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of shredded pepper jack cheese
  • ½ cup of breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 large green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of paprika
  • ½ teaspoon of crushed chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon of oregano

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 4 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup of ketchup
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Preparation Method for Kofta with Cheese:

  1. Preparing the Kofta Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, add the minced meat, half of the cheese, parsley, breadcrumbs, garlic, green bell pepper, egg, cumin, salt, black pepper, paprika, chili flakes, and oregano. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.

  2. Shaping the Kofta Balls:
Shape the mixture into small or medium-sized balls according to preference. Place them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and for the breadcrumbs to absorb the mixture.

  3. Cooking the Kofta Balls:
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the kofta balls, turning them frequently to cook evenly on all sides until golden brown. Once cooked, remove them from the pan and set them aside.

  4. Preparing the Sauce:
In the same frying pan, sauté the onion and garlic until they turn golden. Add the chopped tomatoes and ketchup, stirring the mixture until well combined. Add ½ cup of water and let the sauce simmer.

  5. Combining the Kofta and Sauce:
Once the sauce is ready, return the fried kofta balls to the pan, cover them with the sauce, and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, allowing the kofta to absorb the sauce.

  6. Melting the Cheese:
Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the kofta, cover the pan, and let it cook for 5 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes irresistible. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Your delicious kofta with cheese is now ready to be served! Enjoy it with family or guests. Bon appétit!
