Othmaliyeh with cream is known for its delicious taste and high nutritional value due to its rich ingredients. It's also easy to prepare, taking no more than 35 minutes to make and bake. For the Kunafa Dough:

  • 500 grams of kunafa dough
  • ¼ cup of ghee or clarified butter

For the Cream Filling:

  • 2 cups of liquid milk
  • 3 slices of white toast bread (crusts removed)
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar
  • Sugar syrup (as desired)

Preparation Steps for Othmaliyeh with Cream:

Preparing the Cream Filling:

  1. Cornstarch Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with ¼ cup of water, stirring until the cornstarch dissolves completely. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Toast: Remove the crusts from the white toast bread and cut the soft parts into small cubes.
  3. Heat the Milk: Place the bread cubes in a saucepan, then pour in the milk and add the sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture starts to boil.
  4. Thicken the Mixture: Add the cornstarch mixture and stir continuously until the cream thickens. Then, add the rose water and orange blossom water, stirring until everything is well combined.
  5. Cool the Cream: Remove the cream mixture from the heat, allow it to cool slightly, then place it in the refrigerator to chill.

Preparing the Kunafa Dough:

  1. Prepare the Dough: Shred the kunafa dough into small pieces and place them in a bowl. Add the melted ghee and mix until the dough is well coated with the ghee.
  2. Shape the Kunafa: Press the dough into the cavities of a cupcake or muffin tray, creating small discs of kunafa.

Baking the Kunafa:

  1. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the tray in the oven and bake the kunafa until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Cool the Discs: Remove the tray from the oven and let the kunafa discs cool completely.

Assembling the Othmaliyeh:

  1. Layer the Kunafa and Cream: Place one kunafa disc on a serving plate, then add a generous amount of the cream filling on top. Cover the cream with another kunafa disc.
  2. Repeat: Continue layering until all the kunafa discs and cream are used.

Final Touch:

  1. Add Syrup: Drizzle the prepared sugar syrup over each piece of Othmaliyeh.
  2. Serve: Your Othmaliyeh with cream is now ready to be served. Enjoy this delicious dessert with family or guests.
