Pizza loaf is one of the most unique and delicious types of pizza, enjoyed by both adults and children at any time of the day. It has a rich aroma and a delicious taste, providing a high amount of calories that keep you energized throughout the day. It’s easy to prepare, making it the perfect option for those who don't have much time to cook. This recipe serves six people.
Main Ingredients for Preparing Pizza Loaf:
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons of powdered milk
- 1 tablespoon of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- 2 teaspoons of oregano
- 2 teaspoons of basil
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- ¼ cup of sunflower oil
- 1 cup of lukewarm water
Filling Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of ketchup
- 1 tablespoon of liquid sauce
- 3 cups of boiled chicken, cut into small slices
- 1 cup of green olives
- 1 cup of thinly sliced red bell pepper
- 1 cup of thinly sliced green bell pepper
- 1 cup of thinly sliced yellow bell pepper
- 3 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
Ingredients for the Glaze:
- 1 large egg
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds
How to Prepare Pizza Loaf:
Prepare the dough: In a stand mixer, add 2½ cups of flour, powdered milk, yeast, salt, baking powder, oregano, basil, and sugar. Mix on low speed for one minute to combine all the ingredients.
Gradually add the water and oil, and continue mixing on medium speed for several minutes until you get a soft and smooth dough. If the dough is too soft, add the remaining flour.
Grease a bowl with oil and place the dough inside, shaping it into a ball. Cover it and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes until it doubles in size.
Roll out the dough: Once the dough has risen, take one-third of the dough and roll it out on a floured surface using a rolling pin.
Prepare the filling: Spread one-third of the ketchup and sauce evenly over the dough using a wide plastic spoon. Arrange the chicken slices, olives, red, yellow, and green bell peppers, and chopped tomatoes on top of the dough. Finally, sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the filling. Roll the dough over the filling to form a pizza loaf.
Repeat the same process with the remaining dough.
Place the loaves on a wide baking tray, cover them tightly with plastic wrap, and leave them in a warm place for another 30 minutes to rise again. Preheat the oven to 180°C and position the rack in the middle.
Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk the egg and salt together using a fork. Brush the top of the loaves with the glaze, and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over them.
Bake the pizza loaves on the middle rack for 10-15 minutes until they turn light golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve hot.
