Ingredients for Potato Balls:

Potato Balls

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • 2 cups of whipping cream
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 cups of liquid milk
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 cups of vegetable oil

How to Prepare Potato Balls:

  1. Wash the medium-sized potatoes and place them in a suitable pot. Fill the pot with water until the potatoes are fully submerged.

  2. Bring the pot to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let the potatoes cook until fully tender (this usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes).

  3. Remove the pot from the heat and drain the water from the boiled potatoes.

  4. Once the potatoes cool slightly, peel them and mash them well until smooth and lump-free.

  5. In a separate pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once it has melted, lower the heat and add the flour, stirring the mixture until combined.

  6. Add the whipping cream and continue stirring for about five minutes until the sauce mixture thickens.

  7. Add the salt and mashed potatoes to the sauce mixture, stirring all the ingredients together until they are well incorporated.

  8. Remove the pot from the heat and pour the mixture into a suitable bowl. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then place it in the refrigerator for at least five hours to firm up.

  9. After chilling, remove the bowl from the fridge and shape the potato mixture into medium-sized balls.

  10. In one bowl, place the beaten eggs, and in another bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

  11. Dip each potato ball into the beaten eggs, then roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.

  12. Repeat this process until all the potato balls are coated.

  13. Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat until hot. Fry the potato balls in the oil, turning them until they are golden and cooked through.

  14. Remove the potato balls from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Once done, your potato balls are ready to be served. Place them on a serving plate and offer them to your family or guests to enjoy their delicious taste. Bon appétit!
