Qamhiyah with Milk – Recipe for Qamhiyah with Milk – How to Prepare Qamhiyah with Milk

Qamhiyah with Milk is one of the most delicious desserts often prepared by homemakers, especially in the Levant region, due to its unique taste and high nutritional value. Many dessert shops prepare this dish, which is frequently served at special occasions. In this recipe, I’ll present the ingredients for six people along with the preparation steps, hoping you enjoy this delightful dessert from Syrian and Lebanese cuisine.

Ingredients for Qamhiyah with Milk:

Qamhiyah with Milk

  • 1 kg of peeled wheat
  • 1 kg of powdered milk
  • 500 g of white sugar (more can be added if desired)
  • 500 g of natural honey
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (Nestle)
  • Ground mastic (optional, to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • Assorted nuts (for garnish, to taste)

How to Prepare Qamhiyah with Milk:

  1. Prepare the Wheat: Wash the wheat thoroughly and soak it in water overnight.

  2. Cook the Wheat: The next day, boil an adequate amount of drinking water in a pot over medium heat. Once the water boils, add the soaked and peeled wheat. Let it boil for about 15 minutes, then remove the pot from the heat.

  3. Let the Wheat Rest: Allow the wheat to sit in the hot water for 4 hours to fully open up the grains.

  4. Cook the Wheat Again: Return the pot to the stove and cook the wheat over medium heat until the grains are fully cooked.

  5. Prepare the Milk Mixture: In a separate pot, boil 4 cups of water over medium heat and gradually add the powdered milk, stirring constantly until the mixture boils.

  6. Combine the Mixtures: Add the milk mixture to the cooked wheat, then stir in the sweetened condensed milk, honey, and mastic. Cook everything together over low heat, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes.

  7. Add Flavors: Remove the pot from the heat, then add the rose water and orange blossom water. Stir all the ingredients well until fully combined.

  8. Serve and Garnish: Pour the Qamhiyah with Milk into serving dishes and allow it to cool down. Garnish each dish with a handful of nuts, adding extra flavor and nutritional value to the dessert.

Your Qamhiyah with Milk is now ready to be served! Enjoy this sweet treat with your family or guests. Bon appétit!
