Main Ingredients for Raisin Pastries:

Raisin Pastries

Dough Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups of white flour
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of instant dry yeast
  • ¼ cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • ¼ cup of melted butter
  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • ½ cup of raisins

Topping Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of liquid vanilla (or powdered vanilla if unavailable)
  • 3 tablespoons of cream

How to Prepare Raisin Pastries:

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a stand mixer, combine the flour, cinnamon, yeast, baking powder, sugar, butter, and half of the milk. Attach the dough hook and mix on medium speed for a few minutes until the ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. Add Milk Gradually: Slowly add the remaining milk while continuing to run the mixer. Once fully combined, add the raisins and mix on low speed for another 5 minutes until a smooth, consistent dough forms.

  3. Let the Dough Rise: Remove the dough from the mixer and place it in a deep bowl. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes, or until the dough doubles in size.

  4. Shape the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle. Cut it into 8 equal pieces. Gently press each piece to release any air bubbles, then shape each into a ball.

  5. Bake the Pastries: Place the dough balls on a baking tray, ensuring there’s enough space between each one. Preheat the oven to 210°C (410°F) and place the tray in the middle rack. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the pastries turn a light golden brown.

  6. Prepare the Topping: While the pastries are baking, prepare the topping. In a large, deep bowl, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla, and half of the cream. Whisk by hand for about 3 minutes using a wire whisk, then gradually add the remaining cream while continuing to whisk until a smooth and creamy mixture forms.

  7. Finish and Serve: Remove the pastries from the oven and drizzle the topping evenly over each one. Serve immediately while warm.

Your delicious raisin pastries are now ready to enjoy! Bon appétit!
