Ingredients for Sablé French Cookies with Jam:

Sablé French Cookies with Jam

  • 1½ cups of butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 4 cups of white flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • Apricot jam (or any other preferred type of jam)

How to Prepare Sablé French Cookies with Jam:

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the butter at room temperature with the white sugar. Mix them well until they are fully combined and smooth.

  2. Add the white flour, salt, and baking powder, and continue mixing until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and knead it until you get a soft and smooth dough.

  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least 60 minutes to chill.

  5. Once the dough has cooled, roll it out on a surface lightly dusted with flour. Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into round shapes.

  6. Using a smaller cookie cutter, create holes in the center of half of the cookies, leaving the other half whole.

  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the cookies on it.

  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Once the oven is heated, place the baking sheet inside and bake the cookies for about 15 minutes until they are fully baked.

  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool completely for about 30 minutes.

  10. Once the cookies have cooled, spread about a tablespoon of apricot jam on a whole cookie, then cover it with a cookie that has a hole in the center.

  11. Repeat the process until all the cookies are sandwiched with jam.

Your sablé French cookies with jam are now ready! Serve them to your family or guests with a cup of coffee, and enjoy the delightful taste. Bon appétit!
