  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of grated coconut
  • 2 tablespoons of semolina
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (beaten, for brushing)

For the Syrup (Qatar):

  • 2 cups of white sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of rose water
  • 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

How to Prepare Shakarpra:

  1. Prepare the syrup (Qatar):
In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and place over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes until it thickens.
Remove the pan from the heat and add the rose water, orange blossom water, and lemon juice. Stir well, then set the syrup aside to cool.

  2. Prepare the dough:
In a stand mixer, beat the butter and powdered sugar until you achieve a creamy consistency.
Gradually pour in the vegetable oil while mixing, then add the eggs and continue beating until everything is well combined.

  3. Add the dry ingredients:
Gradually add the grated coconut, semolina, vanilla, flour, and baking powder, mixing continuously until a firm dough forms.

  4. Shape the dough:
Divide the dough into medium-sized balls. Brush each ball with the beaten egg.

  5. Prepare for baking:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the dough balls on it. Gently press each ball to flatten slightly into your desired shape.

  6. Bake the Shakarpra:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Once heated, place the tray in the oven and bake until the cookies are golden and cooked through.

  7. Add the syrup:
Remove the tray from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot cookies.

Your Shakarpra dessert is now ready! Serve it cold to your family or guests and enjoy its sweet, delicious flavor. Bon appétit!
