Potato Burger Buns Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of white flour.
  • ½ cup of mashed potatoes.
  • ¼ cup of powdered milk.
  • 3 tablespoons of white sugar.
  • 1 egg.
  • ½ teaspoon of table salt.
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
  • 1 cup of lukewarm drinking water.
  • 1 teaspoon of instant yeast.

Shake Shack Sauce Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of mayonnaise.
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard.
  • 1 teaspoon of ketchup.
  • ½ teaspoon of pickle brine.

Burger Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, sliced.
  • 450 grams of ready-made burger meat.
  • 4 slices of American cheese.

Preparation of Shake Shack Burger:

Preparing the Burger Buns:

  1. Mix the instant yeast with lukewarm water until well combined.
  2. In a suitable bowl, combine the white flour, mashed potatoes, salt, yeast mixture, white sugar, egg, unsalted butter, and powdered milk. Mix all the ingredients well until you form a smooth dough.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 60 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into small, round portions. Cover them with a cloth and let them rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough balls into circles on a floured surface.
  6. Place the dough circles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F), and once heated, place the tray in the oven. Bake for 30 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and cooked through.

Preparing the Shake Shack Sauce:

  1. In a blender, mix the mayonnaise, pickle brine, ketchup, and mustard. Blend until all ingredients are well combined and smooth.

Preparing the Burger:

  1. Heat a skillet (preferably cast iron) on the stove and brush the burger buns with butter.
  2. Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 2-3 minutes until they turn golden brown.
  3. Remove the buns from the skillet, and spread a spoonful of Shake Shack sauce on each one, followed by two slices of tomato and a lettuce leaf.
  4. In the same skillet, melt some butter and cook the burger patties until fully cooked. Add the American cheese slices on top of the patties and let them melt.
  5. Place the cooked patty with the melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun, then cover with the top bun.
