Ingredients for Spicy Tomato Shrimp Soup:

Shrimp Soup with Spicy Tomato

  • 300 grams of unpeeled shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil
  • 3 stalks of green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of green tomatoes, diced
  • 4 cups of warm water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of crushed chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice
  • ¼ cup of cooking cream

Preparation Steps for Spicy Tomato Shrimp Soup:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:

    • Peel the shrimp, keeping the shells and heads aside. Cut each shrimp into three equal pieces.
  2. Cook the Aromatics:

    • In a pot, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat. Add the green onions, garlic, and ginger, stirring for about 3 minutes until the ingredients combine and release their aromas.
  3. Sauté the Shrimp Shells:

    • Add the reserved shrimp shells and heads to the pot, stirring until they turn golden in color.
  4. Blend the Tomatoes:

    • In a blender, combine the tomato paste with the warm water and diced green tomatoes. Blend on medium speed until smooth, then add this mixture to the pot with the shrimp shells.
  5. Season the Soup:

    • Add the bay leaves, black pepper, paprika, and crushed chili flakes. Cover the pot and let the mixture simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Once done, strain the mixture to remove the shrimp shells.
  6. Cook the Shrimp:

    • In a separate pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp pieces, cooking for a few seconds until they start to change color. Pour the strained broth over the shrimp and let it cook for a few minutes until the shrimp is fully cooked.
  7. Thicken the Soup:

    • In a small cup, dissolve the cornstarch in half a cup of water. Gradually add this mixture to the soup, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Allow the soup to simmer for an additional 2 minutes until it thickens.
  8. Finish the Soup:

    • Turn off the heat, then stir in the lemon juice. Ladle the soup into serving bowls, and garnish each with a drizzle of cooking cream.

Enjoy your delicious Spicy Tomato Shrimp Soup with a creamy twist!
