For the spicy Dakous sauce:

  • 3 cloves of medium-sized garlic.
  • 1/2 of a green hot pepper, sliced.
  • 1 medium-sized tomato, cut into quarters.
  • Fresh coriander (as desired).
  • Salt (to taste).
  • Black pepper (to taste).
  • 1 piece of burning charcoal.
  • Aluminum foil (as needed).
  • Olive oil (as needed).

Steps to Prepare Smoked Fava Beans with Spicy Dakous Sauce:

Preparing the spicy Dakous sauce:

  1. In a food processor, add the garlic, tomato, green chili slices, coriander, black pepper, and salt. Blend all the ingredients until well combined.

Preparing the fava beans:

  1. Place the canned fava beans in a saucepan over medium heat and let them cook for 5 minutes until heated through. Remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Shape a piece of aluminum foil into a small cup and place it inside the saucepan with the fava beans. Pour a small amount of olive oil into the foil cup and place the burning piece of charcoal inside the cup.
  3. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the fava beans absorb the smoky flavor for 5 minutes. Then, remove the foil cup and discard the charcoal.

Combining the ingredients:
