Ingredients for Stuffed Turnip:

Stuffed Turnip

 

  • 1.5 kg of medium-sized turnips.
  • 1 cup of soaked rice.
  • 150 grams of coarsely ground minced meat.
  • Black pepper (to taste).
  • Salt (to taste).
  • Ground cinnamon (to taste).
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil.
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons of tahini.
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt.
  • Juice of half a lemon.

How to Prepare Stuffed Turnip:

  1. Preparing the Turnips:

    • Hollow out the turnips and set aside the turnip pulp.
    • Wash the hollowed turnips in salted water.
  2. Preparing the Filling:

    • In a bowl, mix the soaked rice, black pepper, salt, minced meat, ground cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Combine the ingredients well.
  3. Frying the Turnips:

    • Heat 1 cup of vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat.
    • Fry the hollowed turnips until golden, then remove and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
    • In the remaining oil, fry the turnip pulp for about 15 minutes.
  4. Stuffing the Turnips:

    • Stuff the turnips with the rice and meat mixture.
  5. Cooking the Stuffed Turnips:

    • Place the fried turnip pulp in a large pot over low heat.
    • Arrange the stuffed turnips on top of the pulp.
    • Pour 1 large cup of water into the pot and let the mixture simmer on low heat until the ingredients are fully cooked.
  6. Preparing the Sauce:

    • In a bowl, mix the tahini, lemon juice, and yogurt until smooth.
  7. Finishing the Dish:

    • Pour the sauce over the stuffed turnips and let the mixture boil for an additional 15 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and transfer the stuffed turnips to a serving dish.
