Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Chinese Chicken:

Sweet and Sour Chinese Chicken

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into cubes.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Black pepper to taste.
  • ½ cup of diced bell peppers.
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice.
  • ½ cup of pineapple, cut into cubes.
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar.
  • ¼ cup of chicken broth.
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped.

Preparation of Sweet and Sour Chinese Chicken:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it softens and turns golden.

  2. Add the cubed chicken and diced bell peppers to the pan, stirring occasionally until the bell peppers soften and the chicken is cooked through.

  3. Pour the pineapple juice and chicken broth into the pan. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. Once the mixture begins to boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.

  5. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water until it dissolves, then slowly add it to the pan while stirring continuously. This will help thicken the sauce.

  6. Add the brown sugar and pineapple cubes, stirring the mixture until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.

Once ready, remove from heat and serve hot. Your sweet and sour chicken is now ready to be enjoyed by family or guests! Serve it with rice or noodles for a complete meal. Bon appétit!
