Tuna cake with labneh cream is a delicious appetizer, perfect for breakfast. It is packed with nutrients thanks to the tuna, which is rich in vitamins essential for the human body. This dish is also easy to prepare, taking only 15 minutes, and serves eight people.
Main Ingredients for Tuna Cake with Labneh Cream:
- 2 cans of tuna
- 1 full pack of toast bread
- 1 stalk of green onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of finely chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh mint
- 1 large carrot, grated
- 1 large cucumber, grated
- ¼ cup of tahini
- ¼ cup of mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon of cumin
- ½ teaspoon of crushed chili flakes
Labneh Cream Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups of labneh
- ½ cup of cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
Garnishing Ingredients:
- Sesame seeds
- Nigella seeds (black seeds)
- 1 medium-sized tomato, sliced
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- Black olives, sliced
How to Prepare Tuna Cake with Labneh Cream:
Step 1:
Start by preparing a medium-sized round cake mold and lining it with plastic wrap to make it easier to remove the cake later.
Step 2:
Drain the oil from the tuna cans using a sieve. Then, use a knife to trim the edges of the toast bread slices.
Step 3:
To prepare the tuna mixture, place the tuna in a large bowl and add the chopped green onion, parsley, mint, grated carrot, and grated cucumber. Mix everything well until the ingredients are combined.
Step 4:
In a separate medium-sized bowl, mix the tahini, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, cumin, and crushed chili flakes. Stir the ingredients well, then add the tuna mixture to this sauce and mix thoroughly.
Step 5:
To make the labneh cream, combine the labneh, cream cheese, and lemon juice in a deep bowl. Whisk the ingredients together using a hand whisk until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved.
Step 6:
Now, prepare a large plate or tray and cover it with plastic wrap, making sure the plastic wrap extends over the edges. Lay a layer of toast slices at the bottom, then spread a portion of the tuna mixture on top. Add another layer of toast and repeat with more tuna mixture. Continue layering until the tuna mixture is used up. Cover the entire cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least an hour, or preferably overnight.
Step 7:
Once ready, remove the tuna cake from the fridge, place it on parchment paper, and unwrap the plastic wrap. Transfer the cake to a serving plate.
Step 8:
Decorate the tuna cake with sesame seeds, nigella seeds, tomato slices, cucumber slices, and black olives.
