Yemeni Malooh Bread Recipe: How to Prepare This Traditional Yemeni Bread
Yemeni Malooh is a traditional type of flatbread from the Yemeni cuisine, known for its delicious taste and high nutritional value. It is relatively easy to prepare, taking about one hour to prepare and another ten minutes to bake. - 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ⅓ cup of melted butter
- ¾ cup of water
- Nigella seeds (optional, for garnish)
Preparation Method for Yemeni Malooh:
Preparing the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and water together. Knead the mixture for about 15 minutes until you get a soft, smooth dough.
Dividing the Dough: Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
Resting the Dough: Coat the dough balls with melted butter, then place them in a bowl and cover them. Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes.
Shaping the Dough: After the dough has rested, roll out each dough ball into a thin rectangle on a flat surface. Brush the surface of the dough with more melted butter.
Forming the Bread: Roll the dough up tightly into a long log. Then twist the dough into a knot shape. Tuck in the ends to form a round ball again.
Flattening the Dough: Using a rolling pin, flatten the dough ball on a floured surface until it forms a circular shape.
Repeating the Steps: Repeat the same process with the second dough ball to form another circle.
