Ingredients for Date-Stuffed Bread:

Bread Stuffed with Dates

For the Dough:

  • 8 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 4 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm liquid milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter (room temperature)

For the Filling:

  • 700 grams date paste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts

For the Glaze:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon liquid milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Prepare Date-Stuffed Bread:

Prepare the Dough:

  1. In an electric mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and eggs. Knead the ingredients well until combined.

  2. Gradually pour in the warm milk while kneading, then add butter. Continue kneading until you achieve a smooth, cohesive dough.

  3. Remove the dough from the mixer, knead it by hand for 2 minutes on a floured surface.

  4. Coat the dough lightly with oil, place it in an oiled bowl, and cover it. Let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Mix the date paste with sesame seeds, cinnamon, and butter in a bowl until well combined.

  2. Roll the filling between parchment paper into a thin rectangular sheet.

Shape the Bread:

  1. On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangular shape about 0.5 cm thick.

  2. Place the date filling over the dough, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the crushed walnuts on top.

  3. Roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Slice the log lengthwise into two halves, leaving the top end uncut.

  4. Twist the two halves into a braid, then form the braid into a circular shape, pinching the ends together.

  5. Place the braided dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Prepare the Glaze:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the egg yolks, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  2. Brush the entire dough with the glaze.

Bake the Bread:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Bake the bread for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serve the date-stuffed bread warm or at room temperature to enjoy its soft texture and sweet, spiced filling. Perfect for family gatherings or as a treat for guests! Bon appétit!
