Fattet Musakhan – Recipe and Preparation Method

Fattet Musakhan is a delicious dish loved by all family members.   • 4 skinless chicken breasts, well-cooked and shredded
  • 2 loaves of Arabic bread, cut and toasted in the oven
  • ½ cup of tahini
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sumac
  • Fried pine nuts (optional)
  • Chopped parsley (optional)
  • 3 cloves of crushed garlic

Preparation Method for Fattet Musakhan:

  1. In a non-stick pot, heat the olive oil over low heat, add the chopped onions, and sauté until softened.
  2. Cut the boiled chicken breasts into medium or small pieces, then add to the onions, stirring occasionally until fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the lemon juice, tahini, yogurt, and crushed garlic. Mix all ingredients until smooth and well-combined.
  4. In a serving dish, layer some toasted bread, then add the chicken (reserving a small amount for the top), and pour the tahini mixture over them.
  5. Add the remaining toasted bread and chicken on top, then garnish with fried pine nuts, sumac, and chopped parsley.
