Pasta Gratin with Béchamel Sauce – Recipe and Preparation Method

Ingredients for Pasta Gratin with Béchamel Sauce:
- 500 grams of pasta
- 250 grams of mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 200 grams of fresh mushrooms, chopped
For the Béchamel Sauce:
- 4 cups of liquid milk
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- ½ cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of ground rosemary
- ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
Preparation Method for Pasta Gratin with Béchamel Sauce:
1. Preparing the Béchamel Sauce:
- Heat the milk in a pot until it begins to boil, then remove from heat and set aside.
- In a separate pot, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the flour. Stir continuously for 5 minutes.
- Remove the pot from heat and gradually add the hot milk, stirring constantly until smooth and well combined.
- Return the pot to medium heat, stirring until the sauce thickens.
- Add rosemary, nutmeg, and salt, stirring until fully combined. Your béchamel sauce is now ready.
2. Preparing the Pasta:
- Cook the pasta in boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
- Mix the cooked pasta with 4 cups of the prepared béchamel sauce until evenly coated.
3. Assembling the Gratin:
- Grease a baking dish with butter and spread half of the pasta and béchamel mixture on the bottom.
- Add a layer of mozzarella cheese and mushrooms on top of the pasta, then cover with the remaining pasta and béchamel mixture.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Once heated, bake the gratin until the top is golden brown.
