- 8 tomatoes.
- 1 400-gram can of diced tomatoes.
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano.
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil.
- 2 teaspoons of salt.
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
- 1 egg, whisked.
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce.
- 1.5 kilograms (about 3.3 pounds) of ground beef.
- 1 1/2 cups of cooked long-grain rice.
- Shredded cheddar cheese for topping.
How to Prepare Stuffed Bell Peppers with Ground Beef and Rice:
Prepare the Bell Peppers:
- Slice the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds.
- Wash them under cold water and set the tops aside.
- Place the peppers in a large pot, submerge them in salted water, and bring to a boil.
- Cover the pot and let the peppers simmer for 5 minutes.
- Drain the peppers and set them aside.
Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Chop the reserved tops of the peppers and add them to the skillet along with the onion and celery.
- Stir until softened and well combined.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, canned diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
